I had the front and rear rims of my farmall Super A professionally hot dip galvanized. Their minimum price for galvanizing a part or parts is 90 Euros (which is roughly US$ 120). So that were my costs, apart from the sandblasting, which has to be done very meticulously.
Later I learned that the galvanizing was most likely electro-galvanizing and NOT hot dip... which makes sense because hot dip galvanizing is very durable compared to electro-galvanizing; my rims were pretty rusty :-(
But my rims are very nice now and will probably never rust again.
Electro-galvanizing makes sense. That would explain why it is such a smooth, even finish compared with "normal" galanizing. It seems hot dip has a tendency to get blotchy or rougher. I would get my rims hot dipped for $120. That isn't that extreme. I assume that is for all four at once?
