Redfan, Probably is an AM as mine is FBK 6999 X3A and the casting code is C which I believe to be 1949. That would make yours (FBK 5431 X3A code B) a 1948. ?? It seems the prefixes and suffexes are the same as the imported tractors ie AW6 is WBK 501 X3A. Perhaps IHC in Australia badged their early tractors with the familiar (and available) M and W6 decals until they were established. Guessing only!!!! I would appreciate all the code, date and serial number data you have. If I can collect enough I may be able to work out the trends. Greg.
