Regularman, thanks a lot for your comments on the tappet guides. With your comments in mind I'll go back and look at the block. I really thought there was water around them. If you've done this before you must be right. Did you ever find a place to get tappet guides, since I've broken most of them in this process? I have found an old engine, cracked on the side from freezing, that I could have for $175.00 with a gas tank and radiator. Maybe with your procedure I could get some out of it. Thanks again for you advise. RON
