if you pull the plugs out of the axel tubes on the bottom and drive it around it will drain the whole system. It is common practice to run the older IH rears over-full on oil when doing PTO work in the hills to keep the oil level high enough so you don't take the PTO out. this will also over fill the axel tube,as I recall their is a 1 1/2 inch hole for the oil to drain back into the rear and a 1X2 hole from the rear to the trans.
