No!!! As a warmed up to temp gasoline engine runs, the fuel and air is consumed in the cylinders. The ignition system starts the combustion and the flame front travels from there across the combustion chamber in a wave. (similar to the way gasoline will burn down a trail of gas poured on the ground(don't do this )). When the spark is shut off the fuel (in these old un-controlled carburetor mixed engines) the mixture is still going into the cylinder. At times, hot glowing elements in the cylinder will ignite the mix, causing the engine to run a bit when shut off. Or the fuel gets pumped by the cylinder/piston into the exhaust system, where it encounters a bit of glowing metal or carbon. This time it explodes with a bang. It is pretty much expected of these tractors. IH introduced a fuel solenoid in the main jet of later tractors that shut off fuel at the same moment the ignition was shut off. Fuel injected car engines also shut off fuel at the same moment the spark is stopped. No Bang there either. JimN
