On my tractor, someone has installed a T-fitting in the rubber suction line where it slopes up from the pump. I've pulled the plug on it a couple of times and made sure that the line and the canister were full. But, there's a long length of hard line that is higher than the T so I can't get the whole line full.
I even tried dumping fluid in the T with the engine running then quickly capping the T. No luck. It sucks the fluid right in and the hydraulics work while it's taking in fluid but I can't get the cap on fast enough to keep air from getting in. It just won't start pulling from the suction line.
