I upgraded my 1963 Farmall 140 to 12v, alternator and electronic ignition about 10 years ago. It is definitely the right way to go and you will be very happy with the results. Electronic ignition is an easy upgrade, works great, and is very reliable. No more fiddling with the points. Upgrade kits are available if you search around. Installing the Delco 10Si alternator is fairly easy. You may need to find or fabricate a new top and bottom brackets to attach alternator. Search the archives for threads regarding 12V conversion and it will give you the directions for upgrading to an alternator. Good luck. Let me know if you want pictures of the brackets and will email them to you. J.
