Avery, I think you have the answers to all your questions right in front of your face: 1. The 140 with the helper spring lifts the disk okay. 2. The 140 that doesn't have the spring will lift the disk okay if you give it just a little push. Logical conclusion: The helper spring gives it that little push it needs to lift the disk. 500 pounds is a lot to lift for these touch control units.
