OK , I am no hydrualics expert but that question didn't make any sense to me . Why would you plumb a suction line to the fill port anyway ? Did you mean the return line ? Or am I missing something here ? On the other question about the vent hole I might have an answer to that . If you don't vent the system the system will vent itself when it gets enough pressure built up from heat expansion , most probably a gasket will let loose .
