Put the 450 in neutral___brakes on, then Jump from one big term to the other on the solenoid, This will spin the starter directly. If it turns, (and won't with the key, then you are correct, the solenoid is bad. If it does not, the battery may be low/bad, causing the symptoms described. A dead short to ground in the new starer will also cause the symptom, but laee likely. Please let us know what it is, jimN
