Scott: It has been 47 years since I first came in contact with these little tractors, never have I seen the timing marks on one yet, but then I've never looked for them. Probably a good reason. In that time I've had 6 of them. The way I look at this, one first has to determine if it is at TDC on compression stroke. Once you determine that, put the distributor in with rotor pointing to No. 1 plug terminal. This doesn't have to be exact as one can rotate the distributor to match. If you think it should be exact, pull the valve cover, valves will soon tell you where crank is. As far as setting timing advance, you can get it much better by ear with tractor running than by using a light. Any 4 cylinder gas Farmall will let you know when right.
