Maine, if the plugs come out exhibiting a flat black colored sooty deposit, thats indicative of excess unburned fuel. Causes can be low compression,,,,,,,,,,,,, running the fuel too rich (carb jets or needles or choke sticking or air inlet or cleaner clogged up),,,,,,,,,,, a weak spark,,,,,,,,,,, or too cold plugs. Things that help are using shutters or thermostats to get the temp up to 180 or more,,,,,,,,run a heat range or two hotter plug then specified,,,,,,,,have a good hot spark. If leaning the fuel mixture dont help and if theres so inlet air restrictions, you may wanna giver her a good ignition tune up n run a hotter plug.
