I don't know where you are but that sounds just a little high - but the mechanic's assurance (if you trust the mechanic) might bring it in line. I've seen alot of 8Ns that are about half the tractor bring $2400-$3000. Trip loaders aren't that popular but you can get a lot done with one and adding a cylinder to the bucket isn't that big of deal if you feel you must have one. Go with your gut, but you aren't going to get hurt too bad at that price. $3000 to $3400 would be a real "good" price.
