Matt, The A"s up until the supers had a foot push rod to start with an angle bracket mounted on the rear tank support. From the pictures you posted, you dont have a pull rod setup, but you would have to push the rod you have. YOu did do a nice job of fabricating the rod, and you might keep it in case you want to install it on a super A or a C at some later date.
