Two things. One it sounds like your timing may be to advanced. This causes the tractor to fire to early and the engine to kick backwards and fire through the carburator. I also have a tractor that will fire and spin backwards on shut down occationally. This causes oil to blow back up through the oil bath aircleaner. I think if you do not overfill the oil bowl it shouldn't happen. If you don't overfill the bowl, it should stop blowing oil out of the aircleaner if the engine happens to fire back through the intake. Hope that helps.
