I have been interested in your comments from working at Farmall, the rear axles were coated with some sort of a black paint, they were not bare because they would not rust if they sat on the lot in open weather at the dealer where I worked. I always assumed it was some sort of coating applied just before wheels were slid on for shipment. I took a customer group through Farmall in Feb 85, wasnt much going on.
