Thought I would tell you guys about the interesting mess I got myself into. I just bought this 1206 this winter and thought it would be nice to get it painted yet this summer. I am in the process of fixing leaks and I had one where the torsion bar/crank arm shaft comes out of the rear end. I thought this would be just the o-rings, no big deal. I pulled the pto unit out this weekend only to find about 5 lbs of silicone caulk spread all over the crank arm shaft inside the rear end of the tractor. At one point the shaft had been broke, tried to be welded, only to crack again allowing hy-tran to run out (silicone did not hold). Now I am back on the hunt for parts. Just thought I would tell you guys my story of buying and fixing used, old tractors that bad mechanics get their hands in.
