Studder on a IH624

My 624 seems to have developed a "hick-up" at higher rpm. At idle it is smooth as cloth (I'd say silk but she's 32 years old) but sometimes when "yer given er" (so my son says) she will occasionally studder (for 2 seconds she sounds like shes going to die then runs as smooth as ever?). Its the D206 4cyl diesel - the filters are fine, the fuel is good (antifreeze/antigel incl.), the lines are fine - mind you it has been cold up here in Ontario but the old German diesel has never minded that before. Any thoughts?
