fordman, What year is the truck???? If it is new, and it is your first winter with it is probably normal--I thought my 2000 F-350 powerstoke was broken too, the first time it got really cold!! But that is what it was supposed to do! mine only does it when at foot off to partial pedal down, and it is really loud at the exhaust!! If there is some thing wrong,It could be a vaccum problem- vac. pump beginning to go out, belt slipping (-if V type, but not likely)line pinched off, small hole in line, or hole in diaphram because I am pretty sure that is what operates the "warm-up valve" (when the COMPUTER tells it to!!). Hope this Helps, Pat
