Like mentioned below, is the fan belt tight? Another problem I had with one was that the shaft wasn't pulled up tight so the impeller had too big of a space between itself and the water pump housing. Also, could the thermostat be upside down? I would check fan belt tension, then check to be sure the impeller on the pump is good. Have a tube of silicone sealant handy to put the pump back on.
