battery boosters like you talk about put a lot of amps into a battery (mine does about 80 on a 12 volt). this generates a lot of heat and may have warped the plates inside the battery. Is your battery sealed ?. you may have evaporated most of the acid in it. we used to add distilled water to our batteries when they got low. you can check for warped plates buy inspecting outside of the battery. usually you can see bulges in the case if plates are warped or it has frozen. my opinion is only use the start setting to actually start the vehicle. I try to limit the high amp charges to 15 min or so. I feel its best to use a low amp battery charger if charging for extended periods
