Yes under the red was only metal. Could not find even a trace of primer. The big blotches of red paint on the underside of the hood made me think that someone else had painted it. I would think IH would not paint like that. Even the part of the hood that is visible is rough like sand paper, but the gray is smooth. Surely someone would not have stripped down the old gray and repainted with red. Especially with such a poor paint job. You never know though. I've got to strip the paint on other parts to be sure though. Jim P.S. Guy how did you find all of this information?
