My C did the same thing. Would have to open it wide open to get it to charge, then it quit all together. Bob M sent instructions on how to fix it.I installed a dummy light in the wire comeing from the alt. One of those little lights like in door lights or mirror lights in your car. Fixed it right off. It charges right from the start now. And if you leave your key on with the motor off the light lights up so you know to turn your key off.
