George is so right. While this is not the procedure I use, it may work well for those new to Cub operation. Pull the starter rod and as soon as the engine starts turning, pull the choke rod. As soon as the engine fires, push the choke rod in. If engine starts to sputter, quickly pull the choke rod again and then push it part of the way in. Repeat until the engine continues to run without choking.
