thanks george . i was a little lost until i studied what you said and looking at the tractor and mower . i take it the idea is to attach a chain to the lift mechanism and to a stationary point on the tractor and as the hitch is raised it rotates the lifting shaft to raist the blade. is this what happpens right now i have the mower temporally on my 300 U and doesn't look like the bottom of the lift cylinder would be the place to attach the chain . i just picked up this mower yesterday and it was from a super C . i removed the lifting rod for the super c . is the axle clamp on the right side of the mower necessary on the 240 U or 300 U ? before i attempt to use the mower i want to go over it and adjust and check things out . the bar has a bow in it . placing a 4 foot straight edge on the back side of the bar from the inner side out there is about a 1/2 inh bow in the bar at the 22 inch point . is this accptable ? hope you don't mind me picking your brain for info . i have a parts list and operator's manual but there are unanwsered questions . i remember the horse drawn mower my uncle used on my grandfthers farm back in te 30' and after WW 2 a allis charmers tractor he bought after he got out of he army

I was driving the 1948 8N Ford tractor that Jimmy bought in 48 new This was prebably in about 1951 and maybe even befor the house was built. This would have made me to be about16 years old and I drove the tractor for nothing and would have paid to drive it if I had had any money which I didn't, but neit ... [Read Article]
