Farmall 300 Distributor parts ?s

I have a 54 Farmall 300, S/N 4115 SU. While disassembling the distributor one of the advance spring ends broke (rust). Does anyone know where to get them? I can't find them online or through any local parts dealers. The original weights were pretty well fused to the advance bracket plate so I wasn't getting any benefits of advanced timing. I'm new to this hobby and this is my first tractor so I don't know if the advance actually adds a great deal to the engine performance. Does it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
