Farmall C engine trouble real BAD!

Hi i got a 1949 Farmall C i bought it 2 years ago and when i got it it had bad charging problem we got that fixed somewhat it still dont charge but we just need to get it rewired Hoober says so too. The big problem is the enigine i need to retourch the head cause oil leaks out not to bad but pretty bad. Now lately when i try to drive up a hill it putters like it miss fires and seems like it can't get up but just does and when i go down hill in high throttle same thing should i just rebuild the whole engine what will that cost my dad won't chip in to pay for it and it's his tractor or should i just junk the engine and find another from a C and use it i know a good amount about tractors but this is stumping me and i'm getting real mad.Thanks for any help given it's highly appreciated.
