You got me thinking now. I am trying to recall the weights on my C when I was a kid. Although it's been a few years I still recall the tractor in its original paint (or so I think). Although dad and I painted it around 1970 or so, I believe the weights were very close to the same color as the tractor. They were definitely painted. That is not to say they were not painted by a dealer matching very closely to the tractor. No doubt weights were assembled at various points and most certainly were probably often painted from a much different batch of paint. Guy Fays book tells of IH mixing a yellow with red to extend its pigment. This could be a piece of this too. I recently saw what looked to be a Super C in its original paint which had been well cared for and shedded, but can't recall if it had weights installed. When you see one of the old rigs in its orginal paint it is definitely different. No high tech hardeners, or clear coats in those days.

The answer to our needs materialized in the form of a '44 Farmall A, complete with cultivators, discs, single plow, a 5ft.Woods belly mower and one, mounted spare 9.00x24 rear wheel.
