I just blew the oil seal out of the hydraulic pump on my 240 utility. Pulled it apart and noticed the pressure plate in the pump is worn away to almost nothing. Probably the cause of the seal going out as there were small pieces of the pressure plate in the pump. Called my local tractor parts source (Jordan Implements in Brawley CA.) They told me parts are no longer made for this pump and the replacement is $502.00 (OUCH!) Asking my wife for $500.00 to fix my tractor would be wasted breath right now. Anyone know a parts source for hydraulic pump guts? Also, according to the parts manual I have, IH put two different pumps on this tractor, a Pesco and a Thompson. Can anyone tell me how to identify the pump I have? As always, thanks for your assistance.
