504 Engine I.D. #

I have a 1967 Int. 504. I need motor parts and my supplier said I have to give him the engine I.D. # that he said is stamped into the block. I found the model numbers on the right side of the clutch housing but I need the engine I.D. numbers.I have looked and cannot find the numbers anywhere. The engine has been painted and I suspect that paint has filled the stamped numbers. Does anyone know exactly where to look for these numbers? Thanks for any help. Roy
