There is a pointer bolted to the to the static shaft of the idler gear that drives the pump gear,one end points at the camshaft mark and the other at the pump drive mark,you need to be sure that #1 cylinder is on compression stroke,the flywheel at TDC, the pump gear mark should now line up with the pointer, go anti clock half a turn and come up to the 8° mark and the pump match marks should be lined up.
