Will it back up once it warms up? Is there a load on the motor when it won't reverse? If there is little to no load when it won't move, and it does reverse once it's warm, it's probably got some bad O-rings in the hydraulic reverser. You might be able to pull the fuel tank and stand on your head to get to them.
The differential lock is operated by a spring-loaded button, as is the transmission disconnect, unless there is a switch, or was a switch, on the top of the lever for the front bucket.
The disconnect allows you to shift between forward and reverse while keeping your RPM up, like while scooping or dumping dirt, or waiting for the bucket to come up enough to clear the side of a truck.
Also, the straight 555s, the A, and maybe the B series, you pull the T handle up and give it a 1/4 turn, then hit the brakes to set them for parking. If I remember right. The late B series and C's used a lever mounted behind the bucket control lever to set the brakes using a cable, instead of locking the pedals down.
Also, if you have a 555B, and when you order parts, if they are the wrong ones, order parts for a 555C. The last couple months they built the B's, they were actually C's with different sheetmetal. We were one of the lucky ones who got one of the transition models. A dealer should be able to tell you if you have one of those machines using the serial number.
