So after a lot of reading here there and every where I decided to work on my tracks myself I have a fairly well equipped shop small lathe, mig welder, torch, drill press small milling machine. but I have never owned anything with tracks. I found out after buying my case 310e that the tracks are in sad shape. Lou from Wi did a wonderful job with his track so I thought what the heck I will give it a try. also the best deal i could find on a set of used tracks was $1500.00 and then you still don't really know what you are getting. I found pins and bushings for 300 per side plus shipping. but I decided to make my own. steel arrives tomorrow. It was only $100 per side delivered I was measuring the links and they are getting to the last 25% of rail I have heard of others welding up the rails and was just wondering what you guys think of this as a way to add life to an old machine.
I thought I could weld them up then make them all the same height on the mill. well ideas
