Just bought 2 TD-6 dozers, one was running but only on 2 cylinders its a 1954 model, the other one is a 1940 and has been setting so long the right track chain rusted off.. got it to run but it only will pop on diesel on 1 cylinder.. the 54 model is the one i want to restore, took the head off and found evidence of it being froze(rusted) up some time , the head was cracked on each cylinder between the valves..YUCK!! took the 1940 model head off and it looks to be in good condition except for the valves need replaceing and seats need to be fixed up..tryed to get the injector precombustion chambers out of both heads and they are rusted in solid, any tricks to getting these out??!! the international start on gas & run on diesel was designed warm the engine up on gas so it will fire up on diesel( low compression eng) without useing starting fluid, that reminds me, the preveious owner could never get the 54 to start on gas so they used starting fluid to get it to run on diesel, the head has pieces of metal blown out everywhere and the same for the pistons.. will be parting out the 1940 model, i wont be useing the blade so its forsale, with everything to mount and also everything for the hydraulics..its a bucyrus erie blade and in good condition also its a manule angle..the 1940 also has a big wench on the back may want to sell it too,, so if anyone wants the blade or wants to talk TD-6 crawlers id be happy to..
