That's the very reason I don't watch that show except in passing, when changing the channels, or like the other night when a buddy told me to flip over there because they were trying to start that old 8. That said I was asked years ago to get one of the old 14A D8's running for a guy after it had set for a lot of years, and it took a lot more to get it going than 'blowing in the tank'. With that one the magneto had to be gone through because it had gotten water inside of it, the carb had to be cleaned of the rust that had begun inside if (the old carb is all cast iron), and on, and on. Then, after getting it running the customer ran it for awhile and let it set almost two years. Same thing, go through the mag and carb both because of water damage. As far as the main engine goes, getting it started was easy. In face one time we even pull started the old girl with one of his BIG farm tractors. All you had to do with it was get it turning over with the decompression lever actuated, then hit the fuel and knock the decompression lever off, and she'd come to life.

So, like you, I call BS on that whole deal. Heck did you see how big of a deal they made a few seasons ago about running one of the machines out of fuel? It was going to 'end their season' because running one out of fuel sucked all of the crap in the tank and put it right inside the engine where it would damage everything'. I guess no one on the show knows what the fuel filter does...LOL Then there was the time Parker ran his loader out of fuel. They discussed how it was going to end his season because he might not be able to get fuel back into the system to get it going. The whole time he was kneeling on the side of the machine with his knee less than 6 inches from the primer pump. That time they even drew the audience a flawed representation of how the fuel system worked, and why it was such a BIG. HUGE deal to run one out of fuel.....Gthey didn't take the time to actually look at how CAT plumbs their system, or know what a primer pump is, or know how to break loose the nut on the injectors to bleed the HP side of the system, or how to ether one just enough to get it running, to self bleed, when manual bleeding like that isn't possible because the injectors are inside the engine.

Yep, can't I can't stand watching a show that has to feed the audience misinformation as a way to make it 'more exciting'. Of course there are times it's like watching a train wreck and you have to see just how stupid those guys can get.....It's got me to thinking I should hit myself in the head with a hammer and knock myself senseless, then just stick my hand out and say pay me....that, in a nutshell, is what the show looks to me like is happening with those idiots....their getting paid to be stupid because it makes the show 'exciting'.....
