here a 580B will start at 5000 and level off around 8000 or so, not a thing wrong with the brakes( in my opinion ) they do wear out and have to replaced we sold hundered's of them from 71-76, only time I seen ring gear problems was if they were abused and I have changed just as many in "C" and later machines the "B" and prior do have to be split to access the power shuttle but again they last many thousands of hours if serived and run properly, I still use mine almost every day
