I have a 3 PT - 12' boom sprayer which works great except I can not tell where I have sprayed. I have tried the coloring agents mixed with the herbicide but that is very difficult to see. Does anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced foam maker kit? All those that I have come across are several hundred dollars and a bit out of my budget right now.

Common trick around here is to cut a piece of bamboo cane (any cane fishing pole)figure how far from the tractor tire you have a spray pattern. Tie the cane pole to the boom and leave the distance sticking past the end of the boom equal to the earlier determined distance between the tractor tire and the edge of the spray pattern. Tie a piece of flagging on the end and let it drag in the tire track of the previous pass. That lets the spray patterns overlap perfectly. Put one of these puppies on either side and eventually you will get to the point that you don't need them.

Made mine for about fifty bucks. Not pretty nor perfect but cheap. Took a battery powered minnow airater ($10), two 2.5 gal gas cans ($7 ea), miss hoses and fittings ($20-30). Each can marks one side. Pump is tee'd and ran to the bottom of each gas can. Spout removed from cap, fitting and 1/2" tube ran to the end of the boom. 90 to a short piece of hose that just touches the ground. Fill, turn on and go. Some point I plan to add remote on/off. Plus I could add a second pump so it only marks one side at a time.

Few lessons learned; Use two cans. T'ing the output gives poor flow to one side. Not sure why but didn't work to well.

When you plum the air line to the cans, be sure to come over the top of the can and up in the bottom. Prevents back flow to the pump when off.

To tap bottom of can use tire valve stems, I had fits trying glues, brass fittings and such. Drill the right size hole and pull it in just like in a rim and remove the valve.

The cans I use had the plastic 1/2 flex spouts. I pulled them out, tap'd and screwed in a fitting in the cap. I noticed they don't sell those any more. You may have to be creative.

Drops, I tried to use bells so you got a lump every so often. May have been me but didn't seem to work so well. Went with dragging hose, shows better line to follow.

If the can has a vent (little yellow one) DO NOT leave it open. Glue that sucker shut.

Regular foam (soap) concentrate, no dies. I don't know the name brand off hand, but get it at the elevator where I get all my chemicals.

Some use compressors from electric air horn kits at auto stores. Check Farmshow archives for design. Air + foam tank + control valve= marker.

Try this place www.agri-supply.com. I know they sell a foam marker for atv's. Can't tell you much more than that. Good luck
