I am new to the field and am looking for any advice that anyone could offer on harrowing. How deep to go and what angle to set or where to put the three point hitch at either close to the bottom or on top of the ground.

Of course the deeper the better usually. With disc-harrowing, the main thing to watch for is keeping the disc level front-to-back. If you have a 3-pt hitch disc, use the top-link to adjust this. If it is tongue disc with hyds. there will be an adjustment on the disc. Tilt the front down to much and you'll get a lot of bite, but poor covering on the rear - resulting in an unlevel field. Too high on the front and you won't be getting your plows worth because you're not turning the soil as well. The only way to learn is to try and then make those adjustments.

I drop it all the way down. I wish that it would cut deeper, I've even loaded it up with some weight---40lbs. The only time I have traction problems is when it is too wet.

I had a set several years ago. I always just let the lift down all the way. It seemed to work fairly well....never had any traction problems. With the lift down the arms will "float" with the disc.

Well, having never used one, but heard about it from those who have, ill say this. If you set it to low, youll have bad traction. And if you set it to high obviously you wont get too deep in the dirt. Youl just have to exeriment. Yoll fiond a setting your pleased with. A bit lower than center (wherever that is) is better than higher. Good luck
