You won't have to milk the goats if you get Boer goats (a breed of meat goats). Then you can eat chevon.

They are nice animals to have around but, they are ALOT of hard work if you get any amount of them. Ask her if she is going to do the milking (twice a day)and hoof trimming and give the shots and then there's the keeping of a Billy unless you use AI. Tell her you will take care of the tractor but, takinmg care of the goats is up to her.

I tried that and everytime I point out the realities of that she says I'm raining on her parade. Her other Idea is For me to plow our 75 acres up and plant wildflowers,I would prefer to stick to cattle and alfalfa she thinks there may be more income from some alternative farming method I dont know?I dont plan on milking any goats though!

There may be some truth to what she says about the wildflowers. I'd sure have to know the market was there and start a whole lot smaller than 75 acres worth. Also what kind of equip. would be needed? Hand picking 75 acres of wildflowers might take awhile.

Check your area for a goats milk market- a cheese maker and baby formula producer in area will have goat milk price about double that of cows milk. Hobby milking , no commercial market means basicly no price for goat milk outside of direct sale. 1 or 2 goats will provide milk for table, extra can be fed to bottle baby sheep or veal calf. Can also let kids nurse- common for spanish meat goats used as brush cutters and cabrito meals.. RN
