I want to get rid of a stand of mustard seed before I do any tilling.I used round up the last time and was less than pleased with the results.I do however have a gallon of 2-4D that is some years old but I thought I might give it a try.My question is how long does it have to sit before plowdown?

I don't know what your goals are but "Good Roundup" (not Wal mart brand) as a rule if mixed and applicated properly will turn everything green to brown. 2,4-D is a broadleaf killer I do not like it personally. I use Crossbow it is a real good broadleaf and brush killer if mixed and applied properly. You might try going to your extension office they have an agronomist that is more than happy to help you get accom[plished what you want to do. The best ther eis is Grazon it is expensive but a once a year application will go a long way they have what you might call a generic called Rangestar. I start every year spraying the bad areas and brush with Crossbow then switching to roundup for the fences and have had no problem at all

Provided weather conditions are ok and your application rate is correct, I would wait 6-7 days before plowdown. This should allow for ample absorption of the 2-4D into the weeds' systems. The weeds will be well on their way to "pushing up daisies" at the end of this time.
