What are your opinions on future "go to" crops?

What are your opinions on future "money making crops"?

or

Your opinion on crops that will continue to be the crop to plant or the crop to turn to?

"thinking outside the box helps" teachers say to do that more

To most extent, those things are dictated by the soil type, climate, & weathe conditions you are blessed or cursed with.

In dry arid shallow soil, you go to crop will always be forage, won't it?

In very warm climates, truck crops & fruit crops will pay the bills.

In good deep soils in the upper midwest, corn will give you the big payback.

A bit west, and you pay for an irrigation system & water rights, or you plant wheat.

The crop of the future will always be one that has strong demand and limited supply. These will never last as when a certain crop becomes profitable, more and more farmers will grow that crop increasing supply and lowering price. Get in front of the crowd and you will be okay if you can figure out how to do it. I sure can't.

I think the crop of the future will be somthing that will yield large amounts of oil to replace diesel fuel from petroleum. It would need to produce a lot more oil per acre than soybeans currently are capable off.
So I think the crop of the future will be fuel not food.
