Neighbor came over today telling me he got roped into selling a widow womans tractor. He met her through the church and now he puts up her hay and helps with horses etc. This tractor is a 3010 and he said it was filthy from setting in a barn. Its a gasser with 8700 hrs. on it, would you believe this fool asked me how to turn the hours back on the tach! After I was done chewing on his a$$ I was shaking, and as a matter of fact I am still mad. Could you imagine if you were some one of limited means and really needed a tractor and got stuck with a wore out John Deere especially when the parts on them are higher than eye balls on a Gyraffee!!

We had a JD dealer that would take a 300 hour tractor in on trade and put a new hour meter in it and then run it for 20 or so hours and say it was a demonstrator. He would then take that 300 hour meter and put it in a tractor that came in with 1200 hours. Then take that 1200 meter and put it in a 2000 hour tractor, and so on.

He did the same with combines as well.

JD closed him down and he served time in jail for screwing JD as well.

Sounds like what I call a Sunday morning Christian and a Monday morning sinner. Just goes to show you not all people that go to church are the way they should be and yep I would have chewed him up one side and down the other and also told him he best start reading the book. I always hate to hear some one tell me hey this guy is a good Christian because I know when I hear that most of the time I best be on my guard since the person will do his best to ripe me off

Animal, I agree with you in your thinking, Perhaps a little more couth could have been used. But you drove the point home about someone needing a good tractor but gets taken by an unscrupulous salesman pulling an underhanded tactic like that. It is Illegal in the auto industry and should be in the Machinery world too. If the neighbor was any kind of a good guy at all, he would clean up the tractor, make it shine like a diamond in a goats A$$.
Do a compression check, tune up and tidy it up some so the widow will get best money possible and the potential buy is as happy as possible! Good Job!, Your neighbor has proven what a louse he is.
Later,
John A.
