Does anyone have a good idea other than commercial bunker covers to cover my pile of corn silage? I was thinking clear heavy plastic, don't really want to use tarps. They will be too expensive.

we use black and white and put the white on the outside.we dig a shallow trentch around the pile at the edges and lay the plastic in it and put the clay back on top of the plastic in the ditch and drive over the clay to pack it in good.we also use tires on top too.it keeps really well and also doesn't blow off this way, even when feeding out it stays down.also a bugger to get out of the ground when you're done lol.don't forget to keep measuring the pile while you're making it so the plastic will fit, allow maybe 10 feet excess or so to make sure it will fit.phill

Around here the standard is black plastic and all the tires you can acumulate. Same thing for high moisture corn--the mice love it under there.

Black plastic seems to be the norm unless you hire a bagger. The biggest problem is coons tearing the plactic to eat the corn.
