Uff Da,

Started yesterday at 1:44 am and finally called it quits at 9:00 pm.

Frantically trying to scrounge up enough feed around here to feed those cows this winter.

Field cultivator is hooked up ready to go on the summer fallow, so just as soon as the hay is hauled off the field, will knock that out.

Then, perhaps I'll have time enough to plow up my fabled 45 acres of "Nebraska Wasteland". That 1066 better pull 'er else I might have to trade 'er in on a 4020 John Deere. :>)

Allan

Walt, I learned a long time ago not to listen to a weather man, or you will never get your hay up. I don't even watch the weather during hay season anymore on this account.

I'm still waiting on that round trip ticket and I will help. We have gotten over 2 inches of rain the last two days. I got finished with my hay. On to setting tobacco now.

Maybe now would be the time to draw some hours from your 'Daylight Savings Account.'
Just remember it may be a hard winter too.
Have as good a day as possible. :)

Good to see your making some headway on your haying. Up here we went from near drought to rain every other day. I have 200 acres of hay to put up. Guess cast looked good monday so I cut 35 acres. Now this morning there is a big blob of green and yellow on the radar about to cover us again. Oh well, I guess its better than everything drying up.

Hey Allan,

Nice pictures. Did you get that switch mounted to silence the buzzer when the bale's tying?

Oh,

That thing works so darned slick. As soon as it rattles at me, I hit that hydraulic lever and the tie function shuts it right up.

Glad I did it that way too; that is one obnoxious buzzer. :>)

Got a nice rain here too. Have had ideal weather so far this year. Alfalfa is three feet tall, and no where near flowering yet. All that is happening on land that hasn't been plowed for 50 years.

Hey Allan;
Baled any more rattle snakes this season? Sure was horrified by those photos of yours last year.
Cheers David

Thanks Allen for sharing your photos. When I see them I'm taken back to the farm I spent so much of my early years not far from you near Imperial. And, we had a 1066 and a 4020!

Sounds like my brick laying days - WINTER'S COMIN'

Good, tight, round bales. I've bought some that were like big ol' pillows, and looked like squashed ovals. And I learned to hate net wrapped bales, never seemed as tight and sound as twine tied.

Hay looks good to me, don't think the rain damaged it enough to bother cows, this winter they will jump all over it. Looks like you have the chain problem solved on the baler, or is that they one that had the chains too long?
Got 6 tenths of rain here, some great plains type wind has already dried it out. Started watering garden. That irrigating from a faucet is for the birds. SC is supposed to get rain, LOL.

Hey Allen, you need a part time tractor driver,I'll be available in a few more years. Color of tractor doesn't matter, but prefer one with cab & a/c. I need a change of scenery. Rich

Know what you mean about the hours in a day.

When that rain hangs around for a week it piles all the work into a few days.

Looks like we had yesterday and today to get a weeks work done. There's another wet system coming in tonite by what the weather guessers are saying.

Gary
