Teddy, The more I read your posts extolling joe the con man who won't use his real name the more I realize what your disability is.

Well, the perpetual motion crackpots have been quiet lately. I guess we're overdue for yet another explanation of how the Laws of Thermodynamics, which govern every energy conversion device in existence, somehow don't apply to this mysterious Joe Newman.

Newman's website is a Crackpot Classic. He makes it clear that he doesn't understand basic algebra, then throws around the name of Clerk Maxwell as if actually understands Maxwell's equations. Trust me, he doesn't. Even the "simplified" versions of Maxwell's equations developed by Heaviside require some pretty hairy math.

The National Bureau of Standards tested Newman's device in 1986. They determined that the device consumed more power then it produced. They observed that the highly non-sinusoidal power spikes within the device would tend to be under-measured by typical measurement apparatus. After creating and calibrating test apparatus suitable to accurately measure power consumption, they concluded the efficiency of the device was between 0.33 and 0.67, depending on how fresh the Scotch tape on the commutator of the device was.

At best. Mewman is self-deluded, in the same mode as Fleishman, Pons, and "cold fusion". (I think that gives Newman way too much credit). At worst, Newman could be consider a con man, making money off the naive.

That report doesn't tell how they added ground wires which were not part of his machine and the excess power was grounded out and not measured. Also why did they confiscate his machine before testing? Also they refused to test in the 30 day period the court ordered. Their test was so rigged it isn't funny. How is it that all those other 30 to 40 important people have signed papers of their own free will stating it does what he says it does? that is the energy out exceeds the energy imput.

Wow. I wish I had one to sell. At that price, it could pay for a lot of electricity.

Seriously, this book was published in 1985 and is a second printing at that. The book has been out for over 20 years. Don't you think that if it had anything of value, we would have seen the results by now?

Mebbe somebody here could actually BUY the book, put the results to good use and retire.

Perhaps rather than buy a copy a person could view one with an Inter-Library Loan.

Amazon has them bargain priced at $249 and new ones at nearly $700. Think I'll pass on them.

Different choice for me. in reply to teddy52food, 05-13-2009 10:56:48
Since I haven't yet read it I think that I will stick with a medical text book as the most important. I'm sure there are others but that was the first that came to mind.

If the patent had been issued when he applied for it, His machines would be on the market and we wouldn't be paying big money for gas anymore. Without a patent He doesn't dare to put them out on a small scale for fear of a big outfit like Mobil will steal the technology, and with the crooked politions ,get an iron clad patent and the common people will never see it.

I'll buy the book and send it to you if you'll build 2 copies of the machine..... one for me and one for you. I'll pay for the supplies for mine. Of course, I'm gonna need some kind of iron-clad guarantee that I'll have a working..... ....producing more energy than it consumes..... ....model within a reasonable (maybe 3 months) length of time. Where shall I send the book? The guarantee can be something as simple as money (maybe $10,000)
in an escrow account held by my attorney.

I already have his book since 1984. How about you use that money to help Joe get a patent and you will see them on the market in no time. I am disabled for the last 16 years & am not able to build you one. Thanks for the offer.

Money is not going to help Joe. Joe has already sued the patent office and lost. The biggest problem with Joe's device is that it does not work and a devie must be "useful" to get a patent. Useful is Patent Office shorthand for "works" as in "does what it's claimed to do".

Patent has nothing to do with no machine existing. Patent is worthless anyways if you don't develop the machine, which is impossible to do so patent = worthless.

I wonder how many thousands this guy has scammed out of people with this book.

What do you mean" No machine in existance"?? Prototypes have been built since the 80's.Go to his web site and watch the vidio called The Big Eureka. Common sense will tell you that a 1600 # rotor will use more than 40 watts of power just to overcome the friction of the bearings and air drag. It is then pumping water as it runs. I say issue the patent and let the market place decide if it works or not.
