Anybody installing turning signals on there tractors? If so, how are you doing it? Is there a switch you can purchase that would turn the hazzards off and then flash only one light? Also, my later model implements have lights on them but what kind of pin hook up is that on the new machinery and how can I get that to work on my tractor for turn signals? I looked a whole bunch on-line and could not find squat, there was some info. about patents for lights for ag. equipment such as a wireless system that was portable but could not find a product name. Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long winded questions, but if there is a good way to do this I know some one on this board would know.

Well Hayray,

Lots of good ideas so far. I like to find the cheapest way that I can think of. I put a directional signal on my old ford tractor that goes to a flat four pin trailer connector to hook to any trailer that I pull down the road behind it. I went to radio shack and bought a plastic box ( about 3"x6"x 1.5" deep ) to hold the electrical stuff, auto parts store for a three way toggle switch and a regular toggle switch, a flasher and a flat plug with wire. Ran a wire off of the "on" connector of the key switch to one side of the flasher and another wire from the other side of the flasher to the center of the 3 way toggle. I drilled a hole in the box so I could mount the 3 way so it would flip horizontally ( the flasher is inside the box ), One wire from each side of the switch to each tail light through the flat connector. Make sure that you buy the four wire flat connector plug and connect the ground ( white) wire properly and you have directionals, just flip the switch either way and that light will flash. If you want tail lights also just run a wire to the regular toggle and into the connector wires and you will have them too. Not too difficult, just a little planning, buy the flasher first and then get the right size box that it will fit in. I mounted mine inside the rear fender where I could reach it and sealed it to keep it waterproof. I don"t know what your equipment is or how it is wired so I don"t know if my solution will help you, I started from scratch to solve my problem.

Good luck,

Warren

As far as lights for rear of equipment. Buy from auto parts store are farm store. The trailer light system that has two lights for rear and are magnetic. Attach to any equipment anytime on rear that has a bit of metal on it. Comes with wires that will run to front and a plug in like on back of car or truck. Simple and easy to make-work and like I said. Use on anything you two are even on tractor fenders.
Another way if you can get a turn signal lever attachment. Just get two flashers like for a car. Wire from it to stop light side of bulb on each one. Run the wires to a toggle switches on you put on tractor dash. The toggle switch you run to a hot wire or battery hot side with fuse. This way you have turn signals and four way flashers buy switching both on same time. I have done this and was cheap and easy to do.

Signal-stat 900, is what you want can be purchased at NAPA, You can get a universal fit with dimmer swich in the handle also. I picked one up at a parts store for $15.00, brand new and was a Peterbuilt truck app.I put it on my golf cart. He was clearing old out of date parts, and had it on the special table

They sell an after market turn signal switch to replace the switch in cars or trucks when that system goes bad and you could use on of those to fix up what you want. Last one I go cost around $50

Yep it clamps to the steering column. Just so happens I have one on the dash of my truck because the turn signal switch in my truck is messing up and have been thinking about putting it on just never got around to doing it yet. Box has PM500 on it and I got it at my local O'Reilly's auto parts store about 2 months ago. Any good auto parts store should have them or be able to get them for you
