24 valve cummings not chagring

My boss has a ram 2500 with the 24 valve, the tach quit working and alternator is not charging. Put an alternator on it but still not working. Any ideas?

Go to turbodiesel registry..... and by the way the g on the end of cummins is so silent you cannot even see it. :)

You can put in the key and turn it on and off 3 times, fast. Then where the milage is will show any codes. BUT the codes are only displayed for a cetain number of starts. Do it as soon as possible. The TDR has a listing of the trouble codes on its site.

I had a 150 hp Evinrude on a bass boat that had the same symptoms as that and it was a big diode on the side of the motor. About 125 miles back to the dealer and did it about three times till I got rid of it. Friend had a Merc doing the same thing...it had a small diode on it...we put a bigger one on it and he never had any more problems. Don't know whether you have the same thing or not but might be worth looking. ohfred

Yea . Ya need to hook it up to a scan tool and see what is going on as EVERYTHING is controlled thru the ECM. The days of just throwing parts on are long dead and gone.
