Make sure that the pump/pto are connected. There is a lever under the seat on the left hand side of the case. Step on the clutch and move that lever rearward to engage the pump/pto. Now try the lever.
If that doesn"t work, you neeed to open the access panel on the right side where the dip stick is to observe the control linkage. In the futiure, you have better sucess getting a quicker answer if you go to the Ferguson forum.

Lots of things can cause this and when you spend all the money and get the arms to go up, without the proper adjustments, they will not go down!

Anyway, enough about my issues. It could be something as simle as a stuck pump cotrol lever. A stuck piston, maybe. If the tractor has had water in the belly the pump may be broken. Anyway, drain a couple of gallons off and pull the side inspection cover. This is the one with the dipstick. There you can watch the pumps operation. Get yourself a manual. You are going to need it.

You can get the hydraulics section from my photobucket. www.photobucket.com username aaronford1 and password molly It is in pretty high definition, so you should be able to enlarge it page sized. It was one of the first thing I uploaded so you are going to have to look a couple of pages back.

BTW, the manual is from my 65, I hope it is similar to your 30.

HTH

Aaron

Do you have the PTO engaged? The lift doesn"t work otherwise. BTDT.
