Just went back to the back lot to spot spray weeds in the hay field (only 1 acre) and about 1/3rd of the field is smashed flat as a pancake. you can see 4 wheeler tracks in and out of the field. I know it's the kids next door. They had to run over the same 1/3rd of the field 30 times. The rest of the field is about 1 1/2 feet tall. I'm going to play heck trying to mow it now, hopefully it will stand back up some. (I use a sickle bar mower)

i have a friend who carved out a section of his property that he said my son could ride on. i dont bother anything else he has and we take care of our section and keep his driveway spruced up. we dont go outside of our alloted area, we mend our fences,and keep it looking nice, with no trash. and we are very greatful to him for his kindness.

i remember a time when people respected a persons investment and took care of it. what has happened to people? this guy owes me nothing!!!

The best kind is a warning sign and a single strand of barbed wire about neck high to a driver of a 4 wheeler. If they can't read their tough luck. Course in Texas you need to have your perimeter fence intact and your gates locked. That puts them as tresspassers and rules of the old west still apply.

Around 'here', that's considered a trap..... just like a loaded shotgun with a trigger string tied to a doorknob and will gain you a long stretch in the penitentiary. I wonder how many of you that advocate violence against his fellow man have actually carried out such threats.

It's idle talk unless you're the trespasser. Get off it thurlow, don't assume anything, you just insult that way.
assume= a** of u and me.
Besides thinking and saying it isn't illegal although these days where the constitution barely exists you've got to wonder.
He just got the courage or just rash enough to admit what many of us are thinking.
Besides its probably a kid so "save the children" doesn't apply.

I ride my wheeler a lot and find that many people do not realize they are doing damage to a hay field by riding around on it. Tell them to stick to the woodline or not ride through the field at all. Make sure if you put up any fencing that you put orange flags and markins on it. If someone gets hurt it could be a big lawsuit against you, which is stupid, but does happen.

I would estimate the damage in dollars, send them a bill and a note that the police will take care of any unpaid damages and future damages!

I've been away almost 20 years. Has things changed that much that you can't just tell people to stay off your property? Neat thing about here in Germany (at least the chunk I'm in) every parcel/field is accesed by a state/county owned right of way. People's property isn't bothered much, and the ways are kept OK.

I can't and wouldn't go around knocking on everybodies door and tell them to stay off my property. I have told the ones who rode on it not to now. When I was younger, even before my teen years I knew to ask permission before I did anything on somebodies property. Plus I always had enough sence to not ride or ask permission to ride in any field. I guess, no, I know that having respect, being trustworthy, etc.etc. have in most part gone with the wind.

Dave if you have been away for 20 years you won't hardly recognize this place. Everybody has the right to do whatever they please and if anyone tries to stop them there are plenty of organizations like the ACLU that will stand behind them and against whomever. Sad to see the country slide that way but it will have to swing all the way before it comes back.

Someone uses a field I have rented for a short cut from one road to another. It's illegal to ride the things on the road so police response wouldn't be a problem if I knew who it was. Also, somewhere else in the county some 4 wheelers rode over a sheriff's dept. officer's property and he had some choice words for them in the newspaper to the effect that someone buys an acre lot and thinks they can ride over adjoining property. I think he was a lieutenant so his words carried some weight. No problem from the cops, just identifying the guys is the problem.

Next door neighbors kids rode in my woods and the second time I raised my voice to them. No problem with them since and I think they have outgrown the problem, or wore out the ATV which is nice.
