I called the vet he sold me some Therabloat Drench concentrate (poloxalene). I didn't squirt it down his throat, I mixed it up with about a quart of water in a bucket. He wouldn't drink it, he snorted at it, lol. So I put about pint of grain in it, then he ate and drank it all. As he was eating/drinking it he burped 2 times and after he was finished eating he burped about 3 times, then he started head butting the bucket and me. I also tried chasing him around alittle but that's hard to do with a tame one. I'm going to get a mineral/molasses/poloxalene anti bloat block and stick out there for him. I have him on a dirt lot right now feeding him hay. Thanks very much for everybodies input. (a month ago I spent around $450 on fertilizer and lime, guess I did a good job ding dang it)

I have used a remedty for bloted cows for years that requires no chemicals. It may meet the Green standerds. Get a round pice of wood 2" in diamenter and a foot long and some twine or light rope. Put the wood in the cows mouth like a horse bit and tye it back forseing the cow to keep its mouth open.
Put the twine from the wood on one side up over there head between horns and ears and back to the other side and once under there chinn. In about two houre your cow will look as if it hasn't eaten in a week.
Anyone ever do this method?

In case you didn't get this below, i'm about 5 miles east of Arcadia on benson mill road. We still go to the arcadia show every year for 35 years.

I remember that Vet., but my father quit farming for health reasons as well. I personally want to get back into hereford cattle again.

You can get the same effect with dish soap. Get the critter in a head gate and tie a rope around its nose and top jaw. Tie the rope to somthing above his head thus pulling his mouth open. Take a whisky bottle and mix a couple squirts of soap in warm water and pour it down his gullet. The soap acts as a surfactant and you can watch them deflate.
